Erica Biolchini
PhD Candidate
Pronouns: she/her
Bio: Erica is currently pursuing her PhD in the Department of English at McGill University under the supervision of professor Alanna Thain. In her research, Erica’s thinking moves within the interstices of process philosophy, media theory, and feminist theory to explore the relation between artistic, political and (as) therapeutic practices. Such concerns have been so far experimented in writings which appear in the special issues Deleuze and Guattari and the Psychedelic Revival of the Deleuze and Guattari Studies Journal and (Eco)Traumatic Landscapes in Contemporary Visual Culture of Iluminance: Journal of Film Theory, History and Aesthetics.
Erica is one of the founding members and curator of the theory programs of the Fuck healing collective. Founded in 2021, the collective critically and creatively interrogates ideas of ‘healing’ as integral to hegemonic regimes of conformity and normative perceptions of health. From this position, ongoing practices of care beyond these reductive categories lie at the core of the collective’s work.
For more information on the collective’s practices, events, and publications, see their website: https://www.fuckhealing.nl.
